About Us

Breaking Robots.

Building minds.

What is Annihilation Robotics?

We are a family-run robotics team that has been competing in all kinds of engineering challenges since 2020. What started as a way to add some direction to Chase’s building projects has turned into something bigger than we ever could have imagined.

We absolutely love building and competing — but over the years, we’ve learned that what excites us most is helping other people get started with their own projects, avoid a lot of the mistakes we made, and realize that anyone can be a creator.

Where it All Started

Chase has been building for as long as we can remember. But even when he was playing with this Duplos as a toddler, it was obvious that he didn’t want to build what was on the box – he wanted to create something of his own.

When he got into middle school we wanted to give him some realistic problems to solve.  At that point, we started a robotics team to compete in some Vex tournaments.

That was a real turning point in Chase’s development.  Competing gave his building projects a purpose and it motivated him to overcome the engineering challenges he ran into.

When he was building just for fun, any time he ran into something difficult he would just move on to another project.  But when you are in a competition, if you don’t overcome the challenges, you don’t win.

We have primarily focused on project-based learning and Chase has benefited greatly from the opportunity to learn through doing.  Over the years we have participated in a variety of different robotics competitions and he has learned something new in every one of them.

Now we’re at the point where Chase is building his own, self-designed custom combat robots.  But it didn’t happen all at once with one grand design.

It happened little by little, project by project.

Landon Finds His Direction

Landon definitely didn’t start out wanting to be involved in anything tech-related.

In the beginning, we needed someone to help Chase with our Vex team and – being a good brother – Landon stepped up.  As a part of the team, he handled all of our in-game strategy, scouted out our alliance partners, and made all of our video content

To this day, he says he didn’t do anything valuable at those tournaments.  But the truth is that he was absolutely critical to all of our success in VRC.

Then Landon saw a drone race on TV and decided that was something he had to try.  He started off flying a few different drone simulators before slowly moving on to trying physical drones.

Now he will tell you that he is always happiest when he has a drone up in the air.

After two years of honing his skills, he is currently flying for Major League Drone Racing and the Drone Championship League.

Learning Together

Our dad wasn’t always a builder.

Which is funny because in the early days of our team, some people thought that he was building the robots for Chase.  In reality, it was actually the opposite – Chase taught Dad most of what he knows about building.

Even though Dad wasn’t a builder, he has always loved motorsports.  Once he started to learn a few things about electronics by watching what Chase was doing, he realized that he could live out some of his auto racing dreams by building RC cars.

As soon as that fire was lit Dad was off and running with a new obsession for learning everything he could about cars.

At first, he just wanted to give RC racing a try to see what it was like.  Now he’s racing in every discipline he can – dirt oval, off road, Mini-Zs, and even speed runs.

This year he even started his own YouTube channel to teach others what he’s learned – and he can honestly say he’s never had more fun.

Finally Putting it all Together

If you’ve known us for a while, you know that it’s taken us a while to figure out exactly how all of this was going to work.  It was difficult to see how the three of us fit together.  We each have interests that are related to building and electronics – but they are all still very different.

We’ve finally realized that we all need to go in our own direction, with our own Instagram accounts, and our own YouTube channels… but we still support each other as one team.

It has been an amazing journey so far.  We have already accomplished more than we ever could have dreamed.  At the same time, it’s easy to see that our best is still to come.

We say this a lot, but it’s true – there has never been a better time to be a builder.  If you are thinking about getting started in robotics or engineering, we would love to help!!!

Our Approach

As a team, we have three goals that we use to guide all of our decision making:

  • We try to do our best to glorify God in all that we do
  • We want to help as many many other teams as we possibly can
  • We try to have as much fun as we can in the process.

Over the years, we’ve found that if we keep our focus on those three things success follows on its own.
